Payment Terms

  1. Making a feature in a project is extremely easy. The hard part is getting said feature to work with other systems. If the project I am hired to work on already has content or code, I need access to the source code to properly analyze deadlines and pricing, without said analysis, any deadlines or pricing predictions are unreliable.
    1. This is not billed in any shape or form.
    2. It is possible to add someone as a read-only member in the major version control websites (For example, GitHub).
    3. The code review period depends on the size and complexity of the project.
    4. All information, codebase, assets, and project data are strictly confidential.
  2. For first-time clients, a non-refundable upfront deposit of 25% of a week's work is required before work begins if the project is hourly. For milestone-based projects, 25% of payment is required.
  3. My minimum pay per project or service is 100 USD.
  4. If my work is for an open-source project or the project upon contract becomes open-source after a year after launch, all my wages have a discount of 20%. This clause is only valid at the start of the project.

Usual Wages

The pricing on this page is for indie projects; the terms for corporate business will be negotiated with higher rates.

  • Singleplayer games: 20 USD per hour.
  • Multiplayer games: 40 USD per hour.

Yes, they look low for a senior dev, but I still have a preference to work with indies and the pricing is already a lot higher than what a senior dev earns here in Brazil.

Additional pricing terms

  1. Lead or Senior dev roles: An additional amount is added depending on the number of people I manage directly.
    1. 1 to 2 people: +4 USD for singleplayer games, +8 USD for multiplayer games added to the base rate.
    2. 3 to 5 people: +8 USD for singleplayer games, +16 USD for multiplayer games added to the base rate.
    3. 6 to 10 people: +16 USD for singleplayer games, +32 USD for multiplayer games added to the base rate.
    4. In case of a team increase mid-project, the changes to my rates only happen upon mutual negotiation.
    5. Corporate business will have a flat rate instead.
  2. Payments are due within 30 days of invoice issuance. If an invoice remains unpaid past this deadline, all active development will be suspended immediately until the balance is cleared.
  3. Overdue balances will accrue interest at a rate of 1% per month (or the maximum legal limit, whichever is lower) from the original due date. The client will be responsible for all legal and collection costs incurred by me to recover said balances.
  4. Upon completion of payment in the period or milestone, full ownership, rights, and copyright of the source code I write will transfer to you.
  5. PayPal is preferred for payment, but bank transfer and CashApp are also available.
  6. My preferred payment period is weekly or bi-weekly, but the usual montly model is also available
  7. Milestone-based payments are also available. However, the milestones should not, upon evaluation, take more than a month. In that case, the milestone will be required to be divided further into smaller ones.

In regards to Generative AI

I will not work on projects containing generated assets through generative models (e.g., Stable Diffusion, ChatGPT, Gemini...) be it images, story, sounds, music, voice acting, etc, including placeholders, Slay the Spire 2 was launched with some cards having very simple illustrations and there's nobody complaining, on the contrary, they are being talked very positively about it. If your project contains them, I am not your guy, sorry.

I am a beginner artist, have a design background and I am opening a studio with artist friends. I have the firm belief that art needs to have a human element and generative AI preys upon already existing artistic work and steals their soul. And to an artist, there's absolutely nothing worse than it being used and altered without their permission. This policy is the only one in this entire page that is not negotiable.

Accidental use of AI-generated content is solved by replacing said asset. Then it will not be a breach of my contract.

Non Disclosure Agreements

  1. For any NDA, it will be required in the contract what information I am not allowed to share and to whom I am not allowed to share.
  2. Once the project becomes public, I will be allowed to post about the project in my portfolio.
  3. Confidential information does not include any data, programming logic, algorithms, or engineering methodologies that:
    1. Are or become part of the public domain or already published by a third party.
    2. Were already in my possession prior to the engagement.
    3. Consist of general programming principles, math equations, or standard engine-specific optimizations (e.g., Unity/Godot API usage)
  4. Permanent NDAs are permitted, if they distinguish between proprietary property and portfolio rights. I will keep all proprietary source code, internal business metrics and unreleased trade secrets strictly confidential in perpetuity. However, once the project is publicly released by the Client, I retain the right to list the project title, official role, and a high-level summary of my contributions in the portfolio.
  5. I acknowledge that all services performed under this Agreement are considered 'Work-Made-for-Hire.' All information, codebase, assets, and project data are strictly confidential. Any public portfolio exceptions must be requested and approved by the Client in writing before publication until the project becomes public.
  6. I shall not be in breach of any confidentiality terms if required to disclose project or financial information by a valid court order, subpoena, or government regulation. If this happens, I will notify the client so they may seek a protective order before the disclosure occurs.

Other general terms

  1. Deliverables may utilize open-source components, plugins, or third-party engines (e.g., Godot, Unity). Intellectual property transfers apply only to code written by me and cannot alter other licensing agreements.
  2. Upon delivery of a feature or build, you have 90 days to report bugs or other issues with the agreed-upon task. If no issues are raised in writing within 90 days, the work is considered accepted. Any bugs reported or changes requested after this window will be treated as new tasks and billed at my standard hourly rate.
  3. To the maximum extent permitted by law, my total cumulative financial liability to the client for any claims, bugs, or damages arising out of this engagement will not exceed the total amount of fees actually paid by the client to me during the immediate 3 months preceding the claim. I cannot be liable for any lost profits, lost data, or indirect business damages.
  4. Once the project is sent to the client, I will store data on my own devices for a maximum of a year. Data beyond this point is the complete responsibility of the client.
  5. Early termination of contract requires a minimum of 2 weeks' notice from any of the parties.
